Impulse Shopping on Temu
The most recent package I received was a set of tiny plant pots, each with an insert designed to keep the plants watered. Just a few days earlier, a dozen tiny succulent plants arrived. These plants had been uprooted and shipped in a box filled with soft, cotton-like material. When I opened the package, the little succulents tumbled out onto my table along with loose soil, completely unorganized. I remember seeing these plants on the Temu website, but I was not certain that I had actually ordered them. Given that I already own more succulents than I can care for, I thought about returning them. However, sending them back to China would have doomed the delicate plants. Instead, I quickly planted them in whatever pots I could find, hoping they would survive.
Now, with a dozen tiny new plants and a dozen small pots just delivered, I have the perfect solution for my accidental acquisitions. Still, I recognize that I really need to stay away from browsing the Temu website.
Last week, I did make a more practical purchase: a new garden arch to replace the old one I’ve had for years. The current arch is rusting and falling apart. My wisteria is growing on it, and I worry that the arch may collapse as the rust worsens from the base upward. The problem is me. I don’t have the strength to assemble the new arch since I’m still recovering from the minor concussion that occurred when I fell and bumped my head a couple of weeks ago.
Let this be a lesson to me to stay off the Temu website until I can assemble the new arch and tend to the tiny succulents.
