Corning Ware Man

When my kids were still young teenagers we always had a sit-down dinner. I was working full time, so I was always in a rush to get dinner on the table. This particular evening I had made meatloaf, salad and mashed potatoes. The table was set, everyone was sitting waiting for the meatloaf. As I took it out of the oven and set it on the table on a hot pad, I warned everyone, "DO NOT touch the hot pan!" I gave them a large spatula and pot holder to cut and serve without touching the pan. My husband immediately picked up the pan with both bare hands, dropped it and began scolding me, "Why didn't you tell me it was hot?!"

The kids all laughed saying, "She just said, don't touch the pan because it's hot". He joined in the laughter as he cooled his fingers under the faucet because the kids were still laughing.

"See," I said, "You never listen to me". To this day they sometimes tease him and call him Corning Ware Man, especially if I've made meatloaf.
