Pacoima, California
Hello, I'm Martha! I'm a 70-year-old artist, quilter, ukulele player, and craftsperson living in the heart of Pacoima, California. For decades, I've been creating beautiful things with my hands — from vibrant quilts that tell stories to soulful melodies on my ukulele.
My journey as an artist began in my mother's kitchen, where I first learned to sew and found joy in transforming simple fabric into something meaningful. Over the years, I've explored painting, crafting, writing, and music — each medium offering its own way to express the beauty I see in everyday life.
Beyond my art, I'm a proud mother and grandmother. My family inspires much of what I create, and I love passing on the traditions of handmade craft to the next generation. Every quilt I stitch, every song I sing, carries a piece of my heart and my heritage.
Welcome to my creative corner of the world. I hope my work brings as much joy to you as it brings to me in making it.
From colorful quilts to handmade crafts, each piece I create tells a story. Here are some of my favorites.
A king-size quilt inspired by California sunsets, featuring warm oranges and deep purples.
Acrylic painting of wildflowers from my neighborhood walks.
Traditional craft with a modern twist, made with love and intention.
Memory quilt incorporating fabric pieces from family clothing.
Watercolor study of dawn breaking over the San Fernando Valley.
Custom pillows with traditional Mexican embroidery patterns.
The ukulele has been my companion for over twenty years. There's something magical about its cheerful sound — it can turn any moment into a celebration. Here are some of my recordings for you to enjoy.
